![]() ![]() As soon as you give your rating, iTunes displays it, in stars, below the album cover. When the entire album is good (or bad), just click your start rating below the album cover, as shown on the screenshot (how to show the album artwork column in iTunes). To save time, you can also rate an entire album in one step: Tip: when a song is selected (as is the case in the screenshot above), you can also apply your rating by clicking on the corresponding dot. (To show the Rating column, right-click on any other column header, and click on " Rating" in the menu that appears.) After you have applied the rating to the song / track, iTunes will display it in the Rating column.Using the iTunes Store's current translation of each star-rating: ★ = " hate it" ★★ = " don't like it" ★★★ = " it's ok" ★★★★ = " it's good", and ★★★★★ = " it's great".Choose the number of stars based on how much you like the item from the submenu, and click on it to apply it.iTunes will display a checkmark next to the item's current rating: by default, any unrated item in your library has a rating of " None", as shown on the screenshot above.Right-click on it, and click on the " Rating" submenu:.Locate the item to which you want to give a rating.Follow the same technique if you use most often one of the other iTunes views, like " Cover Flow", which always shows columns (including rating) at the bottom, or " Grid View", which shows ratings (and other columns) after you double-clicked on an album.įollow these steps to rate an item in your iTunes library:.To hide your iTunes ratings, just right-click on a column header, and uncheck " Rating" from the menu, by clicking on it.iTunes will now show the Rating column (you can move it left or right by dragging its header, and releasing the column where you want it displayed). If ratings are hidden, right-click on another column header, and choose " Rating" from the context menu.Once in List view, see if the Rating column is visible (you may need to scroll horizontally).Of all three iTunes Views, the "List View" gives you the most information about your songs and albums at any given time click on the List View button, as shown on the screenshot. It seems that the ability to Rate Songs has been lost, again. This is how you show or hide the Rating column in iTunes: Now, that ability is gone as when I tap the song, the Track opens the Album View which the song bellows to. ![]() When playing any particular song, I could tap the Track Name and the Rating was displayed. I had found a temporary fix which was working for about 6 months, but then stopped working. Is the ability to Rate songs on the fly a way of the past? I don't even see any of the ratings given to my songs displayed when the iPod touch is playing. I see the 6th generation iPod allows you to favorite (with a heart) songs but I'm now wondering if this is transferred to ITunes in any way. I created customized smart playlists based on song ratings and if I have to be at my computer to rate all my songs, it would take my forever and probably never get done. I have replaced it with an iPod Touch (6th Generation) but it appears that I've lost the ability to Rate my songs as they are playing (used to be able to click the middle button a few times and use the scroll wheel). I had iPod Classic for all my music which recently died. ![]()
