Cycling through everything on the battlefield was very time consuming, and would have been much easier with a click of the mouse. Playing it on an Xbox One was fine, but I can’t help but feel the controls would have felt much more natural on PC – and that is an opinion I rarely have. If I were to do anything differently, it would be to play TBST on PC. What is nice is being able to change the difficulty setting at any time in the settings. Out of all the battles in the entire trilogy, I probably lost five or less (not including the battles in the training tent) – and this is on normal difficulty. However, there are consequences for not winning that can range from changes in the story to being weakened for your next battle. Most battles do not need to be won for the game to progress, which is a very welcome feature. Yes, there are some difficult segments, but most of the time I found myself winning battles with ease. I have read how many felt that TBST is a difficult affair I did not find this the case. I was overall satisfied with the conclusion, but as with most things, TBST was about the journey… And virtually all of the journey was in the first two titles. TBS3 changed up a formula in ways it didn’t need to be changed and the series suffered because of it. Where TBS1 and TBS2 were grand adventures filled with great characters and world building, TBS3 was both a slow burn and rush to the finish line at the same time. However, come TBS3 I started to get fatigued. TBS1 and TBS2 had me very engaged despite their flaws. Since the three entries were made over the course of a few years, there are enough tweaks to made each entry different enough – but it flows together nicely with only the third feeling a bit like a black sheep. The Banner Saga Trilogy (TBST) truly is one larger game comprised of three volumes. Posted below is my overall review of the games as a trilogy bundled together – spoiler-free. I had done this, but unfortunately it was too long to post on. 80% Xbox One- The Banner Saga Trilogy Review My initial plan was to break down my Banner Saga Trilogy review by game, writing each review when the respective game had been completed.
